(1/8) The Hornet Football team ended the 2009 season with a banquet at the Eagles Hall on December 9, with a record turnout and well-deserved recognition for all players and coaches. Countless thanks go to all of the coaches and volunteers who did so much to make the season successful, both on and off the field. We honored our seniors, our all-league players, and our award winners, and recognized and applauded the participation of every member of each team. We are especially proud of the program's academic achievements. For the first time, the GPA of the combined program is at a 3.0, with 66 players at or above a 3.0, and only 10 players total below a 2.0. A special thanks to Coach John Byon and Mrs. Karen Harrington for their valuable contributions running study hall, along with our parent volunteers. The 2009 season ended very positively for the Hornets, with a decisive win at De Anza propelling us back to the NCS playoffs as the 12th seed in our division. We faced 5th seed Ygnacio Valley and gave them a game they wouldn't soon forget. It was a tough, well-matched, well-played game, and we had opportunities to win. The team played their hearts out and never let up, and left everything on the field, scoring 41 points and battling to the end. I couldn't be prouder of how the team played. The 2010 season begins now. We will hit the weight room hard and the textbooks harder. Happy New Year and Go Hornets! ~ Coach Rochlin
