5th Annual
Special Olympics Baseball Clinic

"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
— Special Olympics Athlete Oath —

On Saturday, May 10th, the athletes from the local Special Olympics and athletes from the Alameda High Varsity and JV baseball teams got together for the 5th Annual Special Olympics Baseball Clinic. The two groups got together on a beautiful sunny day at Lincoln Park in Alameda to showcase their skills and remind each other of the true meaning of competition and sportsmanship.

Each Olympian paired up with a Hornet baseball player for warm ups and instruction; then the athletes split into teams and played a spirited scrimmage. The afternoon ended with a lot of "high fives", a group photo, and a BBQ/picnic.

Everyone agreed, the players are just getting better and better each year,
and this was by far the best game we've played to-date.

Here are some pictures from the day...
